What is the difference between a SIM card and an eSIM?
The eSIM is integrated into the smartphone, but what does that change for you and what doesn’t change?
What changes:
❑ the main difference from the traditional SIM card? You no longer have to insert a physical SIM card to make calls and use connection data (3G, 4G);
❑ it has to be activated slightly differently. ;
❑ the eSIM card can contain several numbers for separate phones, but only one number can be active at a time.
❑ no need to enter a PIN code to unlock the eSIM with Orange, but you may choose to activate one if you wish..
What doesn’t change:
❑ the eSIM has exactly the same functions as the physical SIM card that you insert in your device currently. You have the same services as a physical SIM card (calls, SMS, internet).
❑ you keep your telephone number (you don’t have to change number).
❑ the eSIM card contains exactly the same information as a traditional SIM card.
Good to know
The Orange eSIM does not allow you to store contacts, unlike current SIM cards.
