• The different types of SIM card

    Orange has three types of physical SIM card:

    ❑ the mini SIM (measuring 25 x 15 mm);
    ❑ the micro SIM (introduced with the iPhone 4 but very popular since in most smartphones);
    ❑ the nano SIM (used by certain smartphones like the iPhone 6s, the iPhone SE, the Samsung S6, the Samsung S7 and the iPads).

    We supply a multi-format SIM card as standard for each new customer or new device. This card contains all the SIM card formats in an intelligent way. All you need to do is simply remove the desired format.

    If you have accidentally removed the wrong format, don't worry, the other pieces can be used as an “adaptor”. Just pull out the part you need and insert it in your device.

    You also have the option of choosing the eSIM, which is a dematerialised SIM card. This allows you to have several numbers on the one card, to save money when travelling in Europe. Very soon, you will also be able to use it in connected items.

    Do you have a new phone, and need a different format of SIM card?

    To order a new SIM card, you have two options:

    Online, via your Customer Area. It’s very easy: in just a few clicks, under the ‘device’ tab in your Customer Area, you can order your new SIM card, which you will receive by post within two working days. You will then be able to activate it online as well, via your Customer Area.

    Call into an Orange shop near you and get a new multi-format SIM card. This will be activated within a few hours so you can enjoy your new device as soon as possible.

    Warning : Remember to save your contacts when you change SIM card. The contacts stored on your current SIM card will not be transferred to your new card. For more information on saving your contacts click here.
